Hard Drive: An Experiment in Intervisuality
نویسنده
چکیده
Instead of intertextuality, can one perhaps speak of an intervisuality? As a way of understanding how the meaning of images are shaped by other images related to or existing around them? As for intervisuality, I’m drawing on notions of intertextuality as introduced by Julia Kristeva[1]. Kristeva referred to texts in terms of two axes: a horizontal axis connecting the author and reader of a text, and a vertical axis connecting the specific text to others existing around it. What unites these two axes are, according to Kristeva, shared codes. She suggested that every text and reading depends on prior codes, “every text is from the outset under the jurisdiction of other discourses which impose a universe on it” [2]. Kristeva introduced the idea of “structuration”: Instead of limiting our attention to the structure of a text, we should study how this structure came into being. This is its “structuration,” which involved siting the text “within the totality of previous or synchronic texts” of which it was a “transformation.”[3]

OpenLabs Security Laboratory - The Online Security Experiment Platform
For experiments to be reproducible, it is important to have a known and controlled environment. This requires isolation from the surroundings. For security experiments, e.g. with hostile software, this is even more important as the experiment can affect the environment in adverse ways. In a normal campus laboratory, isolation can be achieved by network separation. For an online environment, whe...
متن کاملTime Analysis of Hard Drive Imaging Tools
Computer hard drives often contain evidence that is vital to digital forensic investigations. However, an authenticated working copy or “forensic image” of a suspect hard drive must be created before any data can be analyzed. As the capacities of modern hard drives increase, the time taken to create a forensic image, let alone analyze the data, increases significantly. This paper investigates t...

متن کاملan Efficient Drive Circuit for Switched Reluctance Motor
The purpose of this paper is to present an efficient converter circuit used to drive switched reluctance motors. It uses the C-dump topology in which the trapped energy in the phase windings is returned to the supply capacitor to be used in the following strokes. In addition to the C-dump topology, it uses two extra feedbacks. One comes from a governor mounted on the shaft of motor which contro...
متن کاملHarnessing the Potential to Quantify Public Preferences for Healthcare Priorities through Citizens’ Juries
Despite progress towards greater public engagement, questions about the optimal approach to access public preferences remain unanswered. We review two increasingly popular methods for engaging the public in healthcare priority-setting and determining their preferences; the Citizens’ Jury (CJ) and Discrete Choice Experiment (DCE). We discuss the theoretical framework from which each method is de...
